power steering fluid in e55k

Hi all whats the procedure of checking pas fluid on my e55k. Also if it needs topping up which is the correct fluid.. its just that in start up when cold im getting a very pronounced whine very similar to power steering. I have heard similar sounds on other 55k's and have been told its normal. I just want to be sure and check.. thank you all.

Does it whine more when turning?

I think the noise you are referring to is some form of oil pump either engine or transmission.

Best to get your head in and take a look.
If the fluid is low I would take your Vin number along to your local MB and buy a bottle.
Just did mine. A 1ltr cost £11.53
