Power Steering

Can someone tell me if it is possible to convert 2005 E Class power assisted steering to POWER STEERING

What do you mean.? All cars are power assisited, it's not legal to have power steering, there has to be a mechanical backup.

OK I might have got it wrong---my steering is heavy and I had a run in a friends car and it was very light

There must be different types of power assisted steering. Can my car be altered to make the steering lighter

First check everything is right with the tracking and balljoints then look at the valving on the rotary valve.
Was your friends car the same model. High speed cars are usually set a bit heavy to improve feedback.

Are your tyre pressures correct? Are your friend's tyre pressures correct?

Are the steering wheels the same size?

Check also that the tyre profiles & widths are the same.
