HI!

03-53 reg C220CDI, the pre-glow indicator is coming back on after the engine has started and stays on for up to a minute.
Does anyone know why, thinking maybe the glowplugs are worn out?

please anyone, help,

Thanks

that sounds about right, my E class did exactly the same and I had to replace one of the plugs

Our Sprinter van has this problem.
I can drive 100 miles, stop for five minutes, start up again and the glow plug light will stay on for a minute or so, (although sometimes it will extinguish after 10 seconds on an icy morning.)

Our truck dealer says glow plugs are fine but the switch/sensor is at fault so we have just let it be.

You can have the plugs tested quite easily though, so that would be the first thing to do.

Replace your glow plugs. The warning light is designed to alert you to the fact that one or more is on its way out. It happened on two previous mercs of mine. Got NGK plugs for a fraction of the MB price and the light stayed off.

You might want to do a diesel purge as well. It'll save the new glows longer.

Thanks,

Seems like I'm in for a change of plugs.

What's a diesel purge as it was suggested I do that?

Injector cleaner. Use it undiluted by running a pipe to and from a can of it for best effect.

Sorted now

:thumb:Problem sorted with new plugs.

Thanks for helpful advice
