CL 500 2002
Hi all,

First post - I am about to plunge back into MB world after 6 years of Porsche V8 ownership (2 x 928s and a cayenne)

Have seen a great car, but need a decent MB professional to do me a thorough PPI before I hand over any cash.

Any recommendations?

thanks

Richard

What are you buying? and where/who from? will help us with the advice that we give.

Welcome to MBclub by the way.

Thanks for the early replies. Its a 2002 CL 500. here are some other questions:

- How much roughly to expect for a B service - due in 8000 miles or so
- Can the Comand be upgraded from 2003 version (op system and TMC)
- VED Tax group is K?

other than ABC and corrosion (which is something I understand covered by 30 year guarantee as it has full MB service history) anything else to watch out for?

thanks

Between £300 ish and £600 depending on Indie or Main Dealer, ring round your local dealers and get a few quotes, some will pricematch.

Not sure exactly what you mean yes its possible to get the 2008/2009 disk. If you mean can it be upgraded from 2.5 to the later widescreen version, then it is lots of money.

- VED Tax group is K?

Yes K as pre March 2006, and should be £215

Check all electrics work. Also try to find out if it has had any paintwork done in the past, if it has MB will not entertain a corrosion claim. Also once they get to 8 years old, corrosion claims get more difficult.

new CL 500 purchase

All sorted. being done on wednesday. thanks for the advice

Re; COMAND - no don't want the widescreen retrofitted, but just the mappping upgraded.

Is it just a case of buying the latest CD?

I actually possess a very recent TeleAtlas CD that I forgot to return for a company Skoda Octavia vRS that I used to drive. Comand-online indicates that this would work in both.

But is it a case of just slotting in the CD and waiting for the data to upload, or does the COMAND operating software need updating as well?

Also I want to get some nice push carpets/mats - any recommendations for where best to look? Has the full black leather interior.

thanks

Richard
