So this is back again. The following comes up on the dash, Pre-Safe inoperative followed by Front right malfunction.

The crazy thing is it comes and goes. I know the pre-safe is working most of the time on the drivers side as I can feel the belt tightening. Then it decides not to work. I have a vehicle test coming up and was worried they would fail the car because of this so I tried disabling pre-safe but the warning still come up!

Any ideas?

Not aure about the message on the dash, but just to say that the seat belt tightening after fastening it is a 'convenience' feature that can be turned on or off from the instrument cluster menu, and I don't think it's part of the pre-safe system - the best tightening before a crash will happen much much quicker, and it is operated by a pyrotechnic device.

Also, yiu mentioned in your other thread a list of fault codes that your iCarsoft flagged-up, including B005013 which is a seat belt buckle fault. I suggest that you take the car to an independent specialist who will look at the faults (preferably with STAR) and advise on repairs. Whereabouts in the UK are you?

I'm in N. Ireland. My independant has the STAR diagnostics He ran a diagnostic on his system and it also came up with a lot of codes. He wants it in again as he says it could be a spike or a short in the wiring somewhere and he's going to try and trace it. It seems strange to me that it comes and goes. To me that would indicate a loose or bad connection somewhere.

I know it can be turned off as I did that but the message still comes up which would be the problem during a vehicle test.

Yes, I fitted a new Gel battery last year and changed out the auxillary battery at the same time.

Did the error message start after you changed the battery?

My point was that the option to have the seat belt tightened when first buckled is not related to Pre-Safe, so enabling or disabling it from the instrument cluster menu will have no effect on Pre-Safe or on the error message that you are getting on the dash.

(Pre-Safe works via a small 'explosion', not an electric motor that tightens the belt)

Because of the fact that it comes and goes, for example it didn't appear at all today, I'm wondering if it could be related to the wiring or multi connector blocks under the drivers seat.
