Maybe a daft question. Mercedes replaced left passenger airbag 18 months ago as a recall. Does it have any bearing on right malfunction/ pre safe messages?

A very essential background detail you should have mentioned, makes me guess the airbag job not well done.

So.... doing the left airbag might have triggered the right malfunction message?
Could be a coincidence but the airbag was done about 2 weeks then messages started

Sorry, I did not read carefully enough. I'd say the left airbag has nothing common with the right one except the connector and the actual control unit.

Now I wonder why there was a recall only for the left side airbag? Someone having access to TIPS bulletins could check this.
