Prices are falling..........Sub £20k '08 C63

Now is the time to buy an uber-engined behemoth.

We may not get another generation to enjoy them. Before long, it will all be Toyata PIOUS and their devil spawn.

The new model C-Class will be with us in around 2 years, about the same time all the C63s will be coming off lease, so oversupply and being old shape, expect them to trade at £10k and retail for £12995.

I am not convinced that in 2 years the will hit sub 13k, if you compare the Audi RS4 (which also sold more than double the units compared to the C63) still fetch 15-16k for a 2006.

Big engined cars also usually have the most to lose in value as they cost more to begin with! If it didn't work like this there is no way a penniless moron like me would be thundering around in a CLK55 AMG.
^ Which is why my next car will be an E55/63. They are affordable provided you are aware of the running costs.

Exactly why I've been buying the cars I have for the last four years. Their (and my) time here is limited and they need to be enjoyed while it's still legal/possible. :)

And this guy laughed when I suggested contract hire at £420+vat a month.

If you can't but it cash you can't afford it he scoffed.

Well at least it only cost him £800 a month using cash, phew! Could have looked a right ****!

Like a wiser and richer man than I once said......

If it appreciates buy it.

If it depreciates lease it.

Sound advice sorely lost on many of the backbiters on these very boards.

Not sure what you mean here.

Are you implying that a 2-3 year old C63 which comes to the market post lease will be at that level or an 08 car as originally referenced ?

You have to laugh. This is exactly why I bought a large engined (for the time 2.0!) Saab Turbo back in 1989. I knew the powers that be were going to increase petrol taxes and it would be better to get a fast car while I could still afford one.

£20k car advertised on Gumtree... does not seem right to me.

Yep scam or recorded.........
