211 E320CDi Avantgarde Saloon (Jan 09 price list) vs 212 E350CDi Avantgarde Saloon (June 09 price list):

Of course, prices are list prices and do not reflect the large run out discounts on the 211.

211 OTR: £38,836
COMAND - Standard
Leather - Standard
Metallic - Standard
Parktronic - £592
Heated Seats - £313
Intelligent Light System - £333
TOTAL: £40,074

212 OTR: £34,430
COMAND - £2128
Leather - Standard
Metallic - £607
Parktronic - Standard
Heated Seats - Standard
Intelligent Light System - Standard
TOTAL: £37,165

Bearing in mind that the 211 did not have COMAND or leather as standard in early 2008, the 212 is a "bargain"

I recently priced up a direct replacement (or as close as I could get) to my 2005 211 and thought that generally the 212 was more expensive - of course, every feature is a little bit better (better comand system, more sophisticated distronic, etc) but still I thought it would cost more to get me into the same car as before.
(I made an allowance for the fact that mine is an estate).

W212 is pretty good value for money IMO. It also compares very favorably against its competitors, e.g. take the E250CDI SE, its more powerful, cheaper and better equipped than a BMW 525D.

Cars generally get more affordable. A client of mine was saying that about 20 years ago he bought a Porsche 911 for the same price as his house, he bought a Carrera 4S last year and the house is worth over 2 mill
