The situation near where I work is unbearable...

Today, not only did someone double park as usual, but a range rover then parked in the middle of the road (literally) while in a meeting and a mini then triple parked blocking everyone else in.

I seem to remember someone posting a link to a website you could upload pictures of illegal parking to, and they would send them a PCN-type thing...

Any ideas as to what the site was?

I need this site too!

I live in a block of 8 flats, above shops. We have our own little car park. No gates though because when the car park was built along with the flats 2yrs ago, the buider/landlord, deemed it too expensive. But anyway, We all have a parking space each and the shops each have 2, all clearly marked out. Theres is a sign at the entrance saying "private parking to residents and shop owners only".

I live in the centre of town. nice little shopping centre about 200m from my front door. with a GIANT car park. 20p an hour!!!!! Bargain.

But no, people STILL insist on parking in my car park, blocking me in. or, which I find most annoying, parking in MY SPACE! which clearly says "Private Flat 8". So I block them im, and when they buzz up, i make them wait half hour. Which they're never too pleased about.

Or they park on the entrance to the car park. they wouldnt park on someone elses driveway, and just because this driveway leads to a car park, doesnt mean they can park there!

Rant over.

One of my pet hates bad parking. I had occasion to take a trip to my local motor factors today to get a price for a part and they had parked there vans quite properly with a more than adequate space to park a car and a half between them.

So some imbecilic halfwit parked alongside the parking space completely blocking the road!

Like or loath, the big clamping sign did keep some people in order.

I used to manage various offices. There were always complaints about poor parking, selfish parking, unauthorised parking, etc.

Clampers solved some of the problem, but the solution could also bring it's own difficulties.

I think it's becoming more the norm to ignore these Private 'fine' notices though.

I found something similar:
Home - Red Parking

Maybe this was them in the first place... but they want you to put a sign up rather than just reporting all sorts of misdemeanours...

On the bright side, they'll give you £20 for each fine you "issue"... which is quite nice...

My employer may not be too happy if I supplement my salary using these guys... I just want to be able to get out of the parking lot!

Still looking for one that just lets you "fine" people parked illegally if you already have your own signs up...

For a private parking space how about one of those posts that folds up from the ground and can be padlocked into place? Would stop all but the most determined surely.

A member of the public cannot issue a 'fine'. Nor can any private car parking company like NCP. Only an unenforceable invoice which most people just laugh at.

If they are blocking access for emergency vehicles : phone the Fire Brigade - they will come round and 'have words' with the owners - if the problem persists or the owner cannot be contacted , the police will be called which will result in the vehicles being removed , the owners fined for obstructing emergency access and then they will have release fee plus storage to pay

I have seen this done once when they came round to a place I used to work due to an automatic alarm going off - it so happened that the local cable TV installers had moved into an adjacent factory unit and routinely blocked up the road with their dozens ( literally ) of vans : the riot act was read to them and they were told in no uncertain terms that they would be closed down if it did not stop , repeated visits were made to ensure compliance .

On a smaller scale , a neighbour kept parking inconsiderately outside my mum's house , blocking access to my mum's drive and making it difficult for another neighbour to access his drive too . Polite requests had been met with foul-mouthed abuse . It so happened that I knew the guys in the local station through work , so a quick phone call had them round when I mentioned that this woman was habitually parking over the hydrant which was in front of my mum's house :D A short time later we had an appliance up the street 'to test the hydrant' ; she had a knock at her door telling her to move her car , and asking why she wasn't using her empty driveway ?

Equally as bad is the selfish types that deliberately straddle the lines in two parking places,so that nobody will park close to them.

Unless that "selfish type" buys and displays two tickets?

In Westminster, if you are blocked-in the council will relocate the offending vehicle using one of their pick-up vehicles at no cost to neither you nor the other driver. I was quite astonished when I learnt this - no idea why they spend public money in this way.

Try letting a tyre or two down. They'd be less inclined to park inconsiderately if their motor was 'vandalised' when they do so. Don't know if its illegal, but would be very satisfying. As pass on the inconsiderate buck.

Alternatively, a mate of mine carries a trolley jack in his boot. He uses it to move cars blocking him in. He admits he's also moved cars over yellow lines to make a point too. Think I may get one too.

I had same problem some years ago, near a shopping centre.

Taking action against the offender is pointless because the next one will be someone else... the approach you mention only works if there is a persistent offender.

Spot on, and some people don't just laugh at these invoices they deposit biological matter on them and post them back :D

Did it a few times in my youth. Earned me a clip around the ear from the local plod. :o If you are feeling particularly vindictive remove the valve core as well..... :p

If it happened on my drive I'd be tempted to build a wall or dig a deep hole at the entrance. I'd make the work last as long as possible.
