Problem with inconsiderate parking / obstruction

We have similar in the deeds to our home, several (non owner tenants) have transit vans and similar and park them all over the place - the management company for the estate say they can't do anything and it's up to the other residents to take civil legal action against those responsible.

Yes we have a similar problem - if the road is adopted by the council then it is the council's responsibility - call them and they will tell you if they are causing an obstruction it is a police matter. Call the police and they will tell you it is a civil matter.

No-one wants to take any responsibility.

Although yellow lines require lots of red tape - I believe a white keep clear line can be aaded by the council fairly easily. Totally unenforceable of course, but as there is plenty of parking either side this should be enough to encouarge the parkers to move further up/down the road.

Tried a quick google and this suggests that (in B&NES at least) you just pay the council £100 (£20 per house) and they'll do it - might be worth further investigation with your council to see if they have a similar policy.

We must be lucky then. The management company do take action. It's in their interests really as it maintains the value of the estate generally. I don't think there are any non-owner tenants on our estate though.

Is your road a private road or has it been adopted by your council? What actions do they take?

Unfortunately that says
Keep Clear markings for single or dual accesses will only be permitted immediately adjacent to the vehicle opening for which it is intended. Markings opposite the entrance will not be permitted.
So might not help in this case, where parking opposite is the problem.

Not a private road but as compliance is a term of both freehold and leasehold deeds thex can and do take civik action although only as a last resort.
