Yesterday i started my c43 started up as normal. After 5 mins the car was trying to cut out. I turned the car off and haven't started it since. I am currently working on the car now have noticed some oil around the oil pump and the dirt tray. I have looked around the engine but also noticed some oil on the gear box. Prior this the car was normal

What do you guys think is wrong?

Have taken some pics will post them later

Was it coughing? If so it maybe lack of fuel pressure.

Oil around the front of the engine is normally from the oil cooler seals and a common issue.

You may also have a gearbox oil leak too and this is normally from the pilot bushing or sump gasket.

I doubt the oil leaks are related to the cutting out.

Leav it ticking over and see whta it does. Does it re-start straight away after cutting out?

Hi olly i didnt try to start it again

Start it again and tell me what it does.

Its started up so far its ok its been about 5 mins

Still started fingers crossed

Car would need to get/be quite hot for issues with CPS becoming apparent I would have thought.

Normally i would agree with you, but i have had a couple play up on and off at different temperatures.

If it ws a CPS normlly they cut out dead not splutter.

pic three what is it, it looks like a sensor with the red and black wire it makes a tick tick noise?

It is a re-generation valve. It ticks when it is working. It is part of the fuel tank venting system as petrol fumes are not allowed to be vented to atmosphere so it is burnt.

I cant make out the oil leak pics as they are too big!

You are right in what you say mate, a CPS fault normally means the car will cut out or not start when hot :thumb:
I have had a sputter fault with a CPS before but only once or twice. On a W163 V6 :bannana: and not a blocked fuel filter as they normally are
