I've just bought a DCR SR37E Sony Handycam

On trying to load the software it's hanging on a file when installing Drect x called d3dx9_30.dll

I already have direct X installed so I thought it may have detected this and moved on

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2 (build 6002) but the disk says it's for SP1 - is this the problem?

It's installed PMB and put icons on the desktop, but if I cancel the install on the Direct X stage the camera is not recognised and my PC does not see any of the prgrams to uninstall them.

Any ideas please folks?

Thanks

Not sure about vista, but go to start button on bottom left, go and select run
and type dxdiag.
that will show which version you are running and you might need an update.

Direct X11 is the latest, so try the Sony site as perhaps the software they provided is a bit behind

Just an update.

Dug out an old laptop and re-installed XP then intalled Handycam disk

Guess what?

Yup, perfect 1st time install

Vista really is odd isn't it

Cheers

I've had issue's with Sony Handycam software in the past. I think some versions are not compatible with Vista.
