Evening All - hope everyone had a good weekend.

I have a problem with my '99 C200 Sport and hope someone can help. I'm prettybasic when it comes to cars, so any advice in simple terms please :D

As of this morning the fan runs continuosly even with the keys out of the ignition. I thought maybe the car had got hot so left it for 10 minutes, came back and the fan was still full on.

So...........

I have checked the fan control module (Right inner lower arch) although very dirty, there was no water ingress and all seemed fine. Wiring ok as well. Cleaned up and put back.

The pulled the main relays (left side looking at car) nr windscreen and all seems ok, no water ingress corrosion etc.

However there is a green 12 v relay (002 542 03 19) that visually looks fine, but rattles internally when given a light shake.

Any ideas if this is the culprit.

Thanks everyone any help much appreciated.

Check the connection to the fans for ant water too.

Hi Olly,

Thank for this - is this the plug connector on the RH side as you look down at the fan from above.

If so, have checked it and all was fine. Put hot air on it as well just in case but no joy.

Hmm you need to plug it in to a Star now.

The common cause is the fan control unit itself. When the 202 was newish we replaced these units all the time.

Cheers for the help. Will try the relay tomorrow and if that doesn't work will try and pick up a new fan module.

Bad place to site it right down below on the bl**dy wheel arch!! Never mind.

Just to let everyone know - it was the temp switch that was causing the problem. So all changed and cheap fix.

Chessers - are you able to advise where the temp switch is located / what it looks like - sounds like I have the exact same problem so going to check it out.

Also how much was the temp switch to replace?

Cheers for you help.
