Various.
Sparkyspost about Jeremy Clarkson highlighted a habit I'm using more and more.

I watch TV programmes in FF.

This saves a great deal of time 7 saves me from having to listen to endless tedious waffle and watching things I'm not interested in, such as last night's Top Gear with the interminable and pointless boating odyssey or the 10 minutes of chat with the celebrity driver.

Other shows MADE for FF viewing are Millionaire, F1, Countdown, Deal or No Deal, any antique/auction/junk selling show, Golf, any full length footie match (last FA Cup excepted) & of course, anything with ads in it. Millionaire can be watched in about 7 minutes, thus freeing up about 50 minutes of time for more intelligent/pleasureable pursuits.

Am I alone in doing this?

You don't have to watch it at all, you know. ;)

I probably only watch about three hours of non-news telly each week. There's just bugger all on, in FFWD or not. Yes, I'm sure that if I adopted your technique, Neil, there would be other things I might bear to watch, but (no offence intended), I just couldn't be ****d. I'm afraid I think that the effort expended to end up with 7 minutes of watchable telly will far outweigh any enjoyment I'd get from it.

I do watch TG, because it's brain-in-neutral fun, but as for all the other brain-disengagement stuff (Lost, Cops This, Cops That, Look At My Fat Guts, Your House Mings, Why Doesn't Anyone Like Me? and so on), I just reckon my head would explode.

Funnily enough, for the first time in ages, I actually sat down at five to eight last night to watch Top Gear, then thought I couldn't really face an hour of it - so I set the video and went off and did something else.

I agree sunday's TG was a bit naff, I think I prefer 5th gear

Super slo mo

It is true that there is b*gger all to watch these days which is why when something comes on that is worth watching then I record it and watch it in super slo mo! Particularly programmes like the British superbikes. This extends your viewing pleasure to fill in for all the other cr@p thats on.:p
Mac.

Sorry, didn't read your entire post...fast forwarded through it :D

I find the Rewind function comes in handy sometimes too. Films such as Basic Instinct for example.
