Update on rear arches treated in Bilt Hamber Geox gel and left to ferment
for 15 hours

I really would like to see that after a couple of years. My experience with Deox isn't great.

Please do tell more and what products you have/have not had success with. I'd be extremely interested to know.

Bilt Hamber does have good reviews, but always worth knowing personal experiences. I'm sure Clive's have been positive.

I am still testing Geox gel at the moment and it appears a to be long winded in
get the final results as required but it is eco freindly with no acid as such, so far
you cant beat the acid method tried and tested.

Do you find acid to be a reliable long term cure?

yes providing you treat properly fresh water wash after then apply phoshate
after to neutralise the metal again plus I epoxy primers not ordinary 2k to seal the surface

Great work Clive, i'm sure it will be worth the effort when it's all done!

Ok guys update rear arches treated now with acid method and
phosfate clean afterward, degrease with panel wipe and apply
epoxy anticorrosive primer to treated metal, fine fill pitting with
high grade polyester putty sand and make good.
apply more epoxy primer to seal the repair and now we are ready to
prime the panel in 2K primer.
top coating the whole car next week colour change time me thinks !View attachment 24312

I'm really interested to see how this works out, I might want the same.

Theres more to come yet so hold your breath, treating the arches is a lengthy task and the inner/underside has a process too more pics and details to follow

There is no MB dealer/bodyshop that would go to these lengths to carry out
rust corrosion treatment or prevention under warranty, they would just sand back and reprime then topcoat job done
