Hi there, I've been using Star Tech in Poole for all things E63 since owning the car but the other day passed a company called Project AMG in Three Legged Cross (nr Ringwood)

www.project-amg.com

Has anyone on here heard of or used these chaps before..??

Thanks in advance.

Jon

How can they have a decade of experience but no one heard of them :)

Ok a few things that stand out to me.

Whilst they say they got a decade experience, they show the accreditation of one person from AMG, the founder, which they received only in 2019.

So their experience is certainly not based on AMG. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Then they don’t display their company number on their website which is a legal requirement in the UK and it seems impossible to find them in Company House due to the fact there are tons of companies using the same name and director.

In google they only got three reviews from months ago. Twitter got 0 followers and only joined September 2020.

They are not on Trustpilot either.

So none of this necessarily indicate they are a bad garage but I don’t like if companies advertise decades of experience yet only just started. Loses my trust.

To be fair, there’s nothing factually incorrect in what they say - he’s obviously just started out recently with his own business and has gained his experience working at the main dealer it seems?

The 2019 accreditation would be in addition to that - not mutually exclusive. I am sure he would have gained experience working on AMG vehicles in ten years at an MB main dealer?

Yes it might be a bit puffed up, but isn’t that how advertising usually works? :)

Oh absolutely. You are correct. I am merely stating the facts. I am just a guy who does his research. I do similar when applying for small companies. You can guarantee if I apply for a job in a company with less than 100 employees that I am pulling their records :)

And yes, I am great to party with lol

From the website :

"Adam completed a 4-year advance apprenticeship with Suzuki GB at Newmans Suzuki Southampton, securing an IMI awards diploma level 3 in vehicle maintenance and repair, winning the national apprentice of the year in the final year of the apprenticeship.

He was awarded the IMI Master Technician qualification after 7 years with the manufacturer and then spent 10 years service at Mercedes-Benz of Southampton as diagnosis technician, including High Voltage qualification (Hybrid/Electric Vehicles) and becoming the group AMG specialist technician."

I would suggest he is amply qualified and experienced in both Mercedes and other automotive areas.

Thanks for all the input chaps - i've given them a call & asked for a price to replace a front level sensor - the chap i spoke to wasnt particually annimated but the price was e-mailed to me pretty quickly & it was much the same as my regular garage so i may well give them a go on this small job to sound them out.
They're so local to me it would be sensible to try them out.

I have taken my W204 C63 here a couple of times now and have had a very good experience. Adam really knows his stuff and has a lot of experience with Mercs and AMG, workshop is immaculate and well kitted. So far he has replaced my condenser and will be booked in for rocker covers and injectors which are know problems on the M156.

Had the transmission fluid & filter service today @ Project AMG - the gear change is definately smoother & the "supercharge whine" at high revs in sports + has gone - I'm one happy chap.
Cracking service again from Adam - would happily recommend him to other "local" AMG owners.

Another plus one to confirm the whine is either worn out, or more likely, low gearbox oil. Solved it for me too on a C63.

Adam serviced my AMG E63 and did a thoroughly professional job. He was very helpful with advice on other things whilst I was there.
