Pros and cons of your AMG

Hi all,

Been about a week since delivery of my W204 C63 estate. Love the car but did find something annoying about car, which got me thinking what are the pros and cons of your AMG?

Although still running in and exploring the features, I ll start by:

Pros: Engine noise (ok so this is probably the most popular choice),
Seats (very snug much more so than on my B8 S4 sport seats)
I guess performance but haven't yet had the chance to explore this.

Cons:
ISOFIX location hidden under the cover (so fiddly and u end up destroying the leather seats)
Parktronic (this is my first Merc so not used to this but feels a little dated with no intuitive graphic and why does it only beeps when you are 2 segment before the end!)

Definitely the case of pros outweighing cons but I am still on my honeymoon period and thought whether owners have more objective views after owning the car for a few years.

Pro: Huge Addreniline rush/massive smile across your face whenever you floor it.

Con: Constant Barries/middle aged blokes in Vauxhall Zafira's tailgating you in a 30Mph zone.

Pros? - it's epic.
Cons? - does not compute :dk:.

Good thread.

My E55k - standard exhaust is too quiet, and s/c undercooled. Easily remedied. Nothing else that's AMG-specific.

Lowest setting on the seat is still a smidge too high for my liking, but that's it. Got the dynamic seats though - fantastic.

Pros: The amount of torque
Cons: When you need to fix things it does eat into the bank balance but oh well :D

Pro: Noise (as always), mid-range accelaration for overtake/exit roundabout/join motorway (nothing comes close ususally).
Con: Unwanted attention occasionally from other road users (as per other comments), constant explaining an "AMG Sport" is not a real AMG ;)

S211 Pros: Firkin 'eck it's quick missus! Remapped, it even (whisper it...) eats C63s away from the lights (not that I would ever...). As above, fantastic mid-range, and it sounds good. Never fails to bring a smile when you floor it. It's a nice place to be.

Cons: Mine's a bit shouty, arrogant fat b*****d chav-looking with the tinted glass (not limo black, but too dark for my taste); more the drug dealer than the gentleman's express carriage look. Have to be careful where it's parked, too; with the tints, and E55 AMG writ large on the tailgate, it will I fear attract the attentions of envious vandals. Oh, and of course, it rather attracts attention from the boys in blue.

My old, debadged but otherwise stock, S210 E55 AMG has no such problems; it's just another anonymous old Merc estate - until the lights change...

I wouldn't want to change the K, though. I'll grow up one day. Maybe in a week, when I turn 65...

Pros: Noise, speed, convertible/coupe, comfort, looks.

Cons: Fuel, ABC, Comand

Cons, hate the feel of the brakes. Wish it was manual.

Pros, just about everything else :)

Having just purchased a CLC 220 Sport with a full AMG kit on...

Pros: It's got an AMG kit :)
Cons: It's not an AMG :(

It's next on the list though :) x

In reference to my c43/55 now sold:
Pros: the speed for the outlay was phenominal.
Stealthness, coupled by the look on peoples faces when they can't shake you.
The speed.
The noise.
It was remarkably practical, having fold down seats. Loads included a double bed frame, 3m lengths of timber, and 250kg of ready mix concrete. No problemo.
Effortless acceleration to overtake.
And did I mention it was fast?

Cons: Stealthness sometimes not good when trying to lure people into a... finish that sentence for yourself.
No tiptronic on the auto box.
All my friends called me "drug dealer" for 2 years.

Pros. Comfortable, Practical (seats drop) can cruise without any dramas, then plant the pedal and let the drama begin

Cons......It loves going to MSL and emptying my wallet :)

Lighting the fuse and standing back……………

Pros: Automatic right to look down on anyone driving non-AMG
Cons: End up looking down on anyone driving non-AMG

Wait for it, wait for it……………:D

Okay. I give in. I REALLY want a real AMG but due to a monumental character flaw, would only be happy with S/SL65.:o

There's a limit to how stealthy a fully-badged late model AMG can be; the looks don't exactly hide their light under a bushel... They look fast, they are very fast. The beauty of the W210 is that to most people, it doesn't, but it is. If it had the power (and brakes) of the 55K, I'd keep it.

Fryingpan, I like the brake feel now I'm used to it, and I wouldn't go back to a manual. The auto is just so GOOOOD.

The latest S65s aren't very stealth. I like early 221s.
Auto 'til I die.

Although if your search S65 on ebay a lot of them look like VW Polos

507 coupe
Pros: looks amazing, absolutely love the sound, esp if you let the revs come down in 2nd or 3rd gear. The pops are incredible.
Cons: I'm always at the petrol station...

Pros - looks, performance, that engine, ABC, the respect other drivers seem to accord you (in my Subaru they always wanted a race, with this they don't bother trying)

Cons - ABC, the rattles, Command and that excuse for a sound system from Bose!
