:) We have a ride on tractor which I have decided to over haul. The inside of the blade cover has taken a bit of a battering from stones, loose mud etc, and when this coating was removed it has exposed bare, corroded metal. I\my son plan on wire brushing this surface, then treating it with a rust inhibitor. The plan is then to prime it, then paint with either a Hammerite type paint, or the rubberised type paint sometimes used on car sills?

Has anyone any better suggestions please?

The inside of the cover cannot be seen, so looks, colour etc is irrelevant. I want a base coat\paint that is extremely hard wearing, but quite smooth so that any mud thrown out by the blade will not stick to it.

Regards,
John

Sounds ideal,

Thanks very much,

I have the same with my push mower. I wire brush and then Hammerite. Makes me feel better but does not stop the battering which removes the Hammerite and starts the rust off again. Could be a degree of incompetence on my part.
Will solve my problem with a new cover if I cannot hold it at bay.
