Proud dad alert!

Been in pieces today at the thought of taking him down to Plymouth on Saturday. Going to miss him so much!😢

well done for all the effort put in, defo a proud dad moment :)

The day I've been dreading has arrived.

Terrible because, not only did I have to drive the poxy Ford Focus to Plymouth (the CLS is stuck on the driveway, due to a skip), it's the day we took our son to his halls of residence for the beginning of his 5yr course.

His room was like an oven, with a window that barely opens, overlooking a petrol station!🙄

The next few weeks, at least, are going to prove really difficult for me, as he has helped care for both my mental and physical health, and been my partner in many an escapade. 😪

You'd be a rubbish dad if you had found today easy. And patently you're not.

I told our son that he would have to leave home and fend for himself when he reached 21. So when he went to university for his 3 year degree course he decided that he would come back for visits, but that he may as well leave now.We supported him in this,
Glad to say, he never came back to the midlands and has made a home and career in Bedfordshire. God knows how he would have fared if he had remained reliant on us and taken up with his mates that remained stagnating in Nuneaton.
He has been the best son a man ever had and we are very proud of him.
the 2 of us are going to Japan next September without our better halfs.
Did I mention that he is the stepson that I adopted when he was 3? Now 35.

Nuneaton used to be a really good town, I was dragged up there...... 🤣🤣

That's not what I meant, but now you come to mention it.....give this man a medal someone 😁
Medal, or medallion....... 🤪

Focus over a CLS....?

I'd recommend a medical, not a medal

Made it home, despite the horrible A31.

For the round trip, circa 400 miles, the Focus achieved an astonishingly sh!t 39.8mpg! The joys of the 1L Ecoboom engine meant it was wheezy like a flattened asthmatic hedgehog every time the merest hint of an incline occurred.

Fortunately, next time, the CLS should be available. I might not get anymore mpg, but it'll be a hell of a lot more fun!
As for my son, he seems to be settling in and meeting his new flatmates. We took him grocery shopping, so he's well stocked on food.

Me, I made it back to the car before welling-up, and then into the house, upon return, before wailing like a banshee!

At least it made the 400 miles without digesting itself.

For a change! It really is a gutless heap from hell.
