Hey guys,

Thank you for all your past assistance in helping me come to a conclusion on the car, really helped me out.

Now that I'm a new member, I want to start taking proper care of my car!

It has a few chips and scratches which is a true shame, so I was wondering if you could answer a few questions for me.

  • What do you guys recommend to help fix some of these stone chips and scratches?
  • What car cleaning products/kits do you recommend?
  • Any car cleaning schoolboy mistakes I should be aware of?

Thanks :)

Great choice, congratulations!

In terms of cleaning, it really depends how far you want to go. I'd suggest checking Junkman2000's channel for tips :thumb:

In general day to day cleaning, just make sure that you use the following:

- Two bucket method for the washing stage (wash/rinse)
- Use a wool mitt instead of a sponge
- Dry the car with a drying towel, as opposed to a blade or chamois
- Use a PH neutral shampoo & don't use any harsh chemicals (they are not needed IMO)
- Get some sort of bird droppings cleaner & keep it in the car to get rid of the droppings (before they etch your paint)

Cheers for your advice, I will most certainly take that on board.
I'm more fearful of causing more damage than good, ha!

Bird Dropping cleaner is something i'd of never thought of, thanks for that :)

No problem, in terms of chips, the most user friendly solution seems to be available from a product called chipex. Saying that, I've never tried their touch up products...

I've never had joy getting rid of scratches, you can improve the appearance of them by polishing, but I've never managed to achieve 100% removal.
