Pulled over by police in my 300ce

Perhaps we should take a leaf out of Mexicos book? Might make such traffic police confrontations less testosterone mediated. :dk:

In my experience its the younger coppers who dont have such nice cars, and who dont see the wider picture and benefit of keeping more mature, citizens on side who are the worst.

I was nicked by a young gun in my Porsche, yet recounting the story to an older traffic officer he told me he'd have had a gentle word and left it at that. Far more effective. I dont have a high opinion of the police

Sigh.

Nonsense.

Young police officers with good pay and few commitments can afford anything they like...even Porsches.

BTW. What sorts of job do you think your fellow members do?

Odd how it often seems that people who get regular hassle have an attitude problem.

And they never tend to see it themselves.

Even when they express it quite openly.

Obviously with your opinion and driving such exotica only Police Officers could dream of, you must have passed the 'attitude' test with flying colours :wallbash:

Police are people, and there are many MANY odd people out there so you'll eventually find a weirdo with blue lights.

I've been stopped twice ever, maybe luck but I consider my driving pretty good so I suppose I don't stand out what with all the mad sh**e that is on the road these days.

First tug I was pulled one street from where I lived. I was asked what I was doing, "driving home" I replied and he literally wouldn't believe me but wouldn't say any more so he radio's. Two more policemen then got out of the car and surrounded rear and front. I had to call my Dad while they were discussing how they'd get me life imprisonment, who walked over, verified who I was and told them to fck off.

On a related note, 1yr later I had moved and was out for a run. About 1mile back I ran past a knackered Mondeo which was steaming with the bonnet up. I looked as I ran past but there was no driver. Music up loud I was startled when someone grabbed my shoulder, so I flipped round and semi swing to their face I aborted as it was the same officer as above, now accusing me of dumping the Mondeo. I clearly look like a criminal.

Anyway, next tug was in a car with exhaust work. Sounded fast even when not but not anti-social. Pulled for speeding but I wasn't at all, 50mph zone but I was on cruise at speedo 50mph. Conversation went...

Plod - You were speeding
Me - No I wasn't, I was at 50mph
Plod - Yes you were speeding, I can tell by how long it took me to catch you
Me - I wasn't speeding, I don't know what you want to to say
Plod - I know that you were speeding
Me - I wasn't speeding!
Plod - You're just lucky I have to be somewhere else

He then drove off.

I was stopped before Christmas for the first time in more than 20 years. I had undertaken someone on a DCW...I was in the wrong.

Mea culpa, I opened by saying "you're not happy"... he smiled, took my licence back to his car (no doubt to check for previous) then came back and gave me the very lightest of lectures and we parted on good terms.

Attitude, attitude and attitude.

Your dad told them to fck off?

apple doesn't fall far from the tree

I get stopped a few times a month, sometimes twice in one week but always regularly monthly. I don't have a high opinion of the police either

It's always the same 'random stop' they come up with, check my license and insurance and then ask me what I'm doing, like it's any of their business at all

Always wear my seatbelt, always tell passengers to put theirs on before I pull off although that's their prerogative if they want a fine. If my son is travelling with me he's in the back in a correct child seat but the rear windows are tinted so you wouldn't see him

So effectively, never doing anything wrong. I'll let you guess why I keep getting pulled!

My gripe with the police is that they're never there when you need them, the complete opposite of a condom

In my 'regular' experience, it is the younger generation of police officers who are the culprits. The older officers are more open and honest when you get speaking to them

I think you're confused with the context in which your "saying" should be used. You'd do well to brush up on your understanding before posting to the world.

But, of course, you took it literally. Well done.

This forum is getting worse than Pistonheads.

Feel for you Ash, it must be a pain. I suppose they are trying to be proactive but getting it hugely wrong.

Mind you, Dave.tam will likely now tell you that "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree", and slate you, your son or your dad for no reason :-/.

No I'm not confused at all, I mean exactly what I said. If your dad tells police officers to fck off, no wonder you have the same attitude towards them.

Can only go by what you say. If you didn't mean it, don't say it. No one knows what's inside your mind, we only know what you type on here.

If you didn't exaggerate your post, there wouldn't have been a misunderstanding. If your dad didn't tell the officer to fck off, what impression were you trying to portray saying that he did?

Yeah, I'm pro police, they do one of the toughest jobs out there and with very little or no thanks. I'm not stupid, I know that there are individual incidents where individual officers get things wrong, but using those incidents to blankety stomp on the police isn't the way forward, is it.

Could be any from; driving nice car in bad neighbourhood, quite young and driving a nice car, driving very late at night or early in the morning, driving a nice car but modded (very dark tinted windows for example)...

I wouldn't be a police officer for a gold pig, it's an almost impossible task (and certain family members would disown me!) and I doubt very few start out with bad intentions but some of the types of "people" they meet on a daily basis must make you very cynical towards everyone you encounter, not to mention those who haven't done anything wrong but dish out bad attitude.

If I became a copper I wouldn't last a day so I've got to give a certain amount of respect to those who are.

Wow, what a tremendous amount of waffle to essentially say that I'm anti-police. Nowhere did I say that or that I gave them attitude, only that humans are humans and that bad ones are everywhere. The exact conversation was a little more in depth, but ended in the police being told to stop hassling. Why on earth they were driving our country roads in the first place is perplexing, but perhaps they were looking for someone and I happened to be the only sod around. I can't say, but your comment is invalid.

I'll leave this here. Suggest you go enjoy some quality time with your family rather than quarrelling with me at whatever adult age that you are; I'll be doing the same.
