Yesterday when traveling down the M1 got a puncture.
After only having my car for a few weeks, and yes, I should have checked better when buying the car. Went to the boot to get the spare and change kit which was there. Unfortunately, on purchase I just did a quick visual check and did not check it was complete.
First thing missing is the warning triangle and supporting bracket from under the boot lid. Going to buy genuine replacement as e bay has loads on there. But having checked the owner’s manual and looking on eBay not sure if all the parts are generic for the coupe and saloon across all manufacturing years. Is the supporting bracket a standard fir for both body types and should the triangle have the red plastic case or is it uncased? Seen some sellers with and without the cases on the triangles?
Second thing which is just more of an annoyance and caused a call to the Rac. At some point someone had removed the std locking wheel nuts and replaced with an oversized wheel bolt that did not fit the wrench, Great. Lucky the Rac were merely a phone call away. So, will be replacing these with a set of genuine locking wheel nuts asap.
Manged to get the tyre replaced after the Rac had got me back on the road at the only local tyre place that was open as I did not want to drive on the space saver for long as I was miles from home and was fully loaded with wife, child and dog. Managed to get an almost new Pirellli P Zero to match so that was lucky given the hour.
I also think I have another mount / securing fixing missing under where the spare wheel is located as after having the trye replaced it did not seem well secured. I do have the plastic retaining bolt, but it looks if I should have some sort of bracket that fits under the spare wheel into the bolt and that is not there. Can anyone advise on this please and let me know what part I need as I cannot see this in the owner’s manual.
If any one can point me towards the right parts need I would apricate this as want to get this sorted asap as use the car daily and you never know when another puncture is coming.
