Purchasing Advice

I'd add that when you consider original list price of around £50 - £55,000 you are getting a lot of car for not a lot of money.

There are quite a few extras on an Advantgarde. Fixing or replacing them could be expensive. Mine is a 51 plate Advantgarde with everything on I wanted. I made sure everything worked. I also felt happy/confident in the dealership.

At £4000 you want to get as much of a guarantee or feel for a car as you can with this much stuff on it. They are very robust and reliable but, as with any car, things can go wrong. That's not meant to put you off just to keep in mind.

Try calling in at the Mercedes dealeship in Ulverston (M-B South Lakes). You never know, they might have a customer who's looking to trade in a car that might suit your needs, or one they've taken in p/ex against a new one.

Long shot, but worth a try.

I've owned seven W211 diesels; two were E270's, three were E320's IL6's and two were E320 V6's.

On a steady run, the post 2005 E320 V6 CDI is good for 50mpg, the pre 2005 E320 IL6 CDI is 45mpg and the E270 IL5 CDI was about 48mpg.
