Before and after first cleaning with Bissell Spot Pro and Pro-kleen pro+ shampoo. Shame about the cigarette burns (cig burns in 2 out of the 4 mats 😡). They actually look cleaner IRL than they do in the pics but obviously not perfect. I think I need one of those drill brushes - I was scrubbing with a Vikan small scrubbing brush. First time using the Bissell. Not as effective as the reviews made me believe, but great fun watching the filthy water being sucked up!

Got any dirty pics? Post your own before and afters.

BTW, these dirty mats were in a 230CE I bought last year on ebay.

I always put my mats in the washing machine whenever I get a new car.

For my G Wagens carpets I used a Bissell (which didn't do much) and then my K4 Karcher power washer:

Check out all the brown water even after using the Bissell. :O

You must have a huge washing machine or very bendy cheap mats. My A Class genuine Merc ones barely bend let alone fold up enough to get a set in the washing machine!

Useful reminder to me to get mine done this summer. Both the mats and the fixed interior carpet. They’re not bad at all but they’re light grey and I know they’re not box-fresh after 14 years.

And to get the house done…

I remember a mate telling
us he returned home from work one summer’s afternoon. Filling the kettle up at the kitchen sink he noticed the bathroom carpet in 3 pieces hanging on the very strained washing line in the back garden.

He quizzed his wife about it. She said it was filthy and decided to wash it. Given it was too big to go in the washing machine she cut it up into 3 manageable pieces.

He was a bit like Karl Pilkinton. Told us on a building site during lunch break. What a laugh we all had. 😂

wet vac for me does a pretty decent job, I'd be scared to put them in the machine
I was thinking I might just as well have bought a wet vac, when I was cleaning the mats. I applied the shampoo from a spray bottle and scrubbed it in by hand. The bissell was just used to suck up the water. On the other hand I got it for a price that wouldn't buy a decent wet vac.

Agree about the washing machine, the mats have a thin foam backing and they're possibly 30+ years old. Too risky.

Ive put every one of my cars in the washing machine, all ages of matts. never had any issues :)
