My sister pitched up yesterday in her "new" (well new last Saturday to her) Audi TT Coupe

Not a bad looking car, dark grey metallic, early 2012, 2.0 Fsi engine, 29k miles. Purchased from a Audi main dealer via their "Approved Used" scheme. So naturally she, assisted by idiot husband who knows nothing about anything but will never listen, paid top price.

Mentioned at breakfast this morning it had been fully serviced but a "funny lights" had come up not long after she picked it up.

Yes, hilarious: it was a picture of an oil can with "Min" next to it and the brake pad wear light.

Right, Crappy clothes on and out in the rain.

Oil level barely touching bottom of dipstick. Very black & thickened.

Tyre pressures on a TT are 32psi front 26psi rear.

Front: NS 18psi OS 17psi.

Rear: NS 16psi OS 12psi. NS

NS front below legal limit, others very uneven wear patterns clear to naked eye

Spacesaver Spare: not there & no inflation kit

Front pads very low.

Service book? Nowhere to be found. MoT? "Does not need one yet Madam"

My guess is back off lease, wash and sell.

Harsh words on Monday

Googling "Audi Approved Used Scheme", it appears its a car condition check, warranty and breakdown cover. It doesn't say that a car due a service, would be serviced. There might be some comeback for low tyre pressure, oil level and brake pads if they're below the minimum thickness.

Was the car advertised as having had a recent service, or full service history?

main dealers do very very little work that you would expect as part of their PDI's or approved used schemes... Its up to the buyer to negotiate items into the deal.

The main dealers are only interested in covering their backsides and so they just meet the low tick sheet standard required for the warranty.. which is simply a basic cursory look over the vehicle... most dont even need to enter the workshop for this.

Been looking into this and pretty clear that somebody is trying to extract the proverbial or cretins at work.

Audi Approved vehicle is supposed to come after a "145 point check" and a "detailed written report" plus a service history certificate.

None of that nor indeed the second set of keys that were promised to arrive by the end of last week

Interestingly amongst the specified standard for an "Audi Approved" vehicle in terms of tyres is 4mm tread or better and a pressure check.

They have nowhere to hide.

If the car's so rubbish, why did your sister buy it?

She has always fancied a TT. She liked the colour. It was shiny.

Anyhoo if there is one thing she is world class at it is complaining loudly.

So she pitched up with list of woes this morning and end result was face time with both the Sales and Service Manager who, after a few minutes "speaking with our staff" were both clearly not happy bunnies, most concerned by a vehicle being pushed out with one non road legal tyre and dangerously low pressures

End result is loan car and TT will be delivered tomorrow with 4 new tyres, new pads and rotors all round, full service, whatever spare wheel arrangement it should have plus next service being FOC.

So sorted but formal letter of complaint still going in to VAG.

Wow, are your sister's "complaining loudly" services available for hire? lol

Result.

World class complainer! useful! Don't suppose she fancies helping me out with a sinking patio complaint?

Not in any way suggesting she is a thick - please don't take wrong way! - but if you find some amusement in this sort of thing then watch the below sketch from a tv show called Jam that aired in the late 90s (cult following type thing):

Best not to encourage her.

Glad she is getting it sorted but it is a cautionary tale for any gullible potential buyer who thinks 'main dealer' means 'trustworthy'.

That's actually pretty bad... Something definitely went wrong in their processing of used cars... There is no way an Audi main dealer would retail a car in that state unless it was a trade sale.
I think that's proven by them sorting it all out asap. That is all stuff they would have done before selling it.

What, because "maindeater" actually means "rouge traders"?

..., early 2012, ...

Perhaps Audi are the same as Mercedes and no longer have service books - everything just kept on computer. No need for an MoT until early 2015.

Some people like picking holes that don't exist. But the remainder was deplorable.
