Hi, sorry if this has been touched on before... :o

I have a 2005 C220 CDI (CL203) that has the original audio fitted.

Now, I was wondering how can I get it to play through an AUX Lead please? (It doesn't have one fitted in the Glove Compartment).

Any help would be much appreciated.. ;)

Thank you.

I had the same problem so went the whole hog and had to have a new Clarion double-din unit fitted.

If you can run to it, this is THE THING you need to transform your ICE:

Comand Online are an excellent firm and can fit this for you (it has optical leads that work with your existing MB audio...)

The mCar fully integrates with the MB audio system to provide full control of your ipod/iphone, and handles your calls too!

Recommended, because I had one and they are excellent :-)

Here's what it looks like with my NTG1:

This solution works well with a but. When you are doing your digging around the US seller ships internationally through ebay for a whole lot less. Don't be tempted by him. His support is rubbish and it's actually worth paying the full price from Comand for proper UK support (let alone a firm who stands by what they sell). I am significantly out of pocket due to him.

To be clear - I have no problem with Comand who were superb - just the US based supplier.

Mine has a place under the Armrest for a 'phone with a strange socket. Cannot that be utilized? I heard there are kits available...???

I haven't got a photo of mine, but it looks like this:

I don't know if this would work In Car Entertainment, Bluetooth & Multimedia fitting solutions and interfaces or perhaps this In Car Entertainment, Bluetooth & Multimedia fitting solutions and interfaces I don't know if either would need an additional item but may be worth a call.

Edit: this one looks the most promising http://incartec.co.uk/Pages/Product.aspx?P=3858 if there is a version for later models.

If you go for an aftermarket head unit, you can pull the usb cable from the back of the unit through the transmission tunnel and into the armrest. Go for one with bluetooth calling/music and you don't even need a lead, you can wirelessly transfer it.

£200-300 should buy you a decent unit, ex-displays are good value, then fitting which doesn't take long. I'll show you mine fitted once I finish the surround.

I don't think the after market head unit approach is straightforward. It may provide fancy features but integration with the car is never the same as it is with an original radio (not even with a steering wheel adapter for the after market unit).

I've never had a W203 but doesn't it have an AUX connector at the rear of the radio, even the basic radio? You would just need a harness to be connected either to the radio or an existing connector behind the door sill moulding.

This is where Comand Online come to the fore.

They know exactly what you can and cannot do; what harness is required to suit your model and steering wheel; etc, etc.

So give them a call, because they will gladly sell you a head unit and harness and leave the installation to you. T: 01276 451579

However, I don't know whether my earlier remarks regarding optical leads/connections apply to your car (you should ask).
They did to my 2007 SL, and I whilst I am happy dealing with regular connections, fibre optics are not something I know much about.

So, I'm not saying you can't do this yourself, it's just that C Online are experts for ICE in Mercs, and their level of knowledge and quality of installation are second to none :thumb:

You pay your money and take your choice :)

Hi there again..... :)

I've been looking into things a bit further and found that you can buy the AUX Cable and connect it to the harness that is hidden under the Sill Trim. All you have to do is find it.... ;) Of course all this info is shown on LHD Mercs where the Cable is hidden on their Passenger Side, (our Driver's Side) so not too sure which side it might be exactly - has anyone ever found this and connected the Socket???

Thanks again for all the suggestions - all appreciated! ;)
