Hi all, recently bought the wife an R170Slk320 auto(late 2000) which I knew needed a replacement pse(previous owner declined replacing at last service when unit was diagnosed as faulty),managed to find a tested pse (same part number ),removed the old unit and am ready to connect the new one but question is will it need coding on star or is it plug and play?-thanks for any help,Steve.

If you have same pneumatic options than in donor car, no.

Thanks for your reply-sorry for my ignorance ,replacement pse is from a 2002 car but same part number is that what you meant?

Im not familiar with R170 standard and extra options, do both cars have multi-contour seats, similar head rest options, soft closing doors etc... everything what is actuated by PSE pump an so on. Those are coded to PSE unit, lacking coding option will not work, extra option of pump unit may cause pump overheat since air lines are not connected. My experience of PSE pump comes from W220, if R170 has no difference in options, everything is fine.

Hi and thanks again for your help,I will get the car put on star diagnostics to see if it needs coding or what ever else it shows up,Steve.
