Ok so I've Bought an 05 CLS 500...
I've just got the offer of a mismatched set of AMG III 19" alloys, specifically this type here AMG alloy wheels | Genuine new 19" AMG III | fits Mercedes CLS Class C219 | Alloy Wheels Direct Ltd
Ok the prolem is the rear set are actually from an SL (front) and are;
19 X 8.5" ET30 (SL front)
instead of;
19 X 9.5" ST28 (CLS rear)

I'm keen as I'm getting them for next to nothing although needing a refurb.
I think they should fit as there is only a 2mm difference in the offset, but what other problems will I encounter?
They will be 1" thinner, will that 1" be lost from the outside or inside?
Could I fit a set of spacers to push them out a bit more?
If so would that hurt the handling or cause problems?
Any advice is gratefully received, Colin.

The width difference is on the inside, the offset if only 2mm is not a worry and according to the parts catalogue some of the CLS wheels are 230 SL wheels from the factory including the ones you're talking about.

What is the width of the wheels/tyres currently on the car?

It has 18" alloys, these I think;
Mercedes alloy wheels | Genuine new 18" Mercedes 5 spoke | fits Mercedes CLS Class C219 | Alloy Wheels Direct Ltd
