E Class Cabriolet
Please pardon my ignorance, but can anyone let me know how much VED I will be paying on my E class cabriolet (21 reg) 170 g/Km in 2025?

All the Gov VED website says is that they will change from April 2025....but no figures yet. For me £375 is quite enough thanks!!

Typical!
I've only just started getting used to 'only' paying £190 now the 3er is over 5 years old :(

No idea... my car is a lease that includes VED (whatever the cost is) 😎

No idea??!
-what a good answer mate.
Yeah I have no idea either....mine is Renault Clio whatever it costs.

Perhaps wrongly I had assumed that the big change in VED would be the introduction of VED for EVs, and vehicles already eligible for VED would just have an incremental increase in the usual way.

However with a change in government then there may be a more significant increase to VED, although public servants, NHS staff and union members currently pay VED so maybe not.

Did I just say “currently”? 😬

From the RAC website..
Autumn budget 2024: Changes to car tax in 2025
Chancellor Rachel Reeves has announced changes to the tax bands for brand new cars from April 2025 onwards. The changes will only affect the cost of VED for the first year the car is registered, but there are some substantial rises.

In a move to incentivise the uptake of electric cars, all cars emitting between 1-50 g/km of CO2 (which includes most plug-in hybrids) will see the first year tax bill rise to £110. Currently hybrids in this band pay zero VED in the first year, while petrol and diesel cars pay £10.

New cars emitting between 51-75g/km of CO2 will increase from £30 (or £20 for hybrids) to £135.

All other rates will double next year, meaning the owner of a new VW Golf 1.5 TSI will pay an extra £220 in the first year. By contrast, a new BMW X5 M60i will have £2,745 added to the cost of the first-year rate.

Standard VED rates for beyond the first year will rise in line with the Retail Price Index (RPI) as is usually the case
