E class cabriolet 2017
Hi - how long should a tank of "ad-blue" last in a 2017 E class mercedes 220 d ? - My odo is showing 1200 miles since the last "ad-blue" top up - what is normal for this size engine ?

Hi
I have a 2016 model it gets topped up at service, I did 12000 miles last year.

Ive only had the car 6 weeks and they TOLD me at Mercedes "they would do a ten million point check list before giving me the keys and that the ad blue tank would all be topped up and everything would be lovely- yet here I am with the light on the dash telling me to fill the ad blue and Ive only covered 1088 miles ..... Should I have a drive over and see the smiley salesman. Or just buy some and top up and get used to doing it once a month ? (this is my first car with ad blue OBV )

Go back and ask them to top it up, although if it’s a bit of a trip it’s not expensive to buy, might be quicker (although not the point I get that).
My dealer tops the tank up for free anytime I’m passing if I ever needed it.

My C Class 250d lasted until Servicing, but my E 220d 4Matic doesn't, I had to put 4 Litres in, in between Servicing on similar Mileage, I think the E Class is designed or just does use more AdBlue!:(

On saying all of that, I have just had the AdBlue Pump and Tank replaced under Warranty, the Pump failed at around 17,100 Miles, so I will be keeping an eye on AdBlue Consumption for a while!

OK , The dealership opens in an hour I,ll give them a call - Thanks for all the help.

Is the car still under manufacturers warranty or second hand approved used scheme? They may have omitted to top up the bluetec tank or the light may signify a deeper faut with the adblue dosing system which could be expensive to fix. Do not buy some off the shelf adblue liquid and add it yourself as doing that would give the suppliying dealer an "out" in terms of any warranty.

Drive back to the dealer to get them to top it up as you may have a faulty sensor which may require the whole tank to be replaced!

Yeah - Just spoke to the main dealer where I bought the car - They said theyd refil it and check the system out - Waranty is 18 months - So either way its a thumbs up. Thanks for help.

I presume it’s one of the newer cars with the tiny tanks (fuel and adblue).

Well I think MB are being a little devious here, the car cannot have used very much Ad Blue,I suspect that the pump has gone and many of the MB Ad Blue systems the pump is part of the tank and so all that will have to be changed, make sure you get a lone car .

I don't think so, it appears from other posts on here that the latest models have very small adblue tanks.

My 2017 C300H has half a tank of adblue at the moment and it estimates 7000 miles remaining.

It might be the 2018/19 cars that seem to have small tanks, mine is 2016 and I fill it up once a year.

UPDATE ....Took the car back to Merc this morning and they've given me a 2019 E Class to run around in over Xmas , Not sure when I,ll be getting the cabriolet back but as long as its before the summer I,ll be happy Lol , and I can relax about my PCP Milage for a bit :):):) . Oh, and can you believe this ....as I was driving to the dealership the warning light went off !!! and I was left looking like a complete liar :wallbash::wallbash::wallbash: - hahaa .

Thanks for the LOAN CAR advice.

Yeah good shout , apparently the tanks in the cabriolets are smaller because they have all the power hood motors taking up space etc, But I recon its deffo a fault like "zipdip" said, maybe on the ad blue level indicator.??

I don't think so. My 2019 E220d is approaching 8000 miles with over half the tank remaining. Mind you, it forecasts a distance to refill of about 3000 miles but that has been consistently pessimistic.

So the car is back from Merc , and the explanation was this... " There was plenty of AD BLUE in the tank - BUT just prior to the AD BLUE warning light coming on my DIESEL level was quite low, Somehow the low DIESEL FUEL tank level warning activated the low AD BLUE tank level warning !!! ??? - So maybe the both tanks share some software ??? -

Any how the upshot is that I now have my car back - All the fault codes have been reset and theres no lights on - They have assured me that my AD-BLUE tank is completely full and I can expect a few thousand miles before it needs filling again, and next time my DIESEL gets low "Go straight to the freakin filling station and fill it up !!! " -

So valuable advice to any 2017 Cabriolet owners out there in forum land - keep your fuel tank full .

Cant finish without praising Mercedes Benz Teeside highly enough.
