R 231 Replacement Headlight

Hi all

After much discussion with my much better half, I have decided to change the SL. Went out for a run earlier in the week and a piece of road debris cracked the driver’s side headlight lens. Wonderful! I priced the part with MB and it’s coming in at around £1200. It’s the ILS system I have. I have had a look on eBay etc and any parts I can see appear to be for R231 and W231 facelift. Does any one know if there was a change of headlight, or are the two interchangeable between models? Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Do not let water get in. It wets the control units at the bottom of the light and will cost much more ... When buying used, you need to have the correct type of light (ie looks identical) and the correct LHD or RHD variant.

Pre facelift and facelift lights are completely different

Thanks chaps. Mine is as per the image above. I may have to bite the bullet on a new one, as I would imagine this would knock the trade-in value significantly.
