Anyone on here do model gliding? 30 yrs ago I was keen then gave it up but now am looking for a new interest. Found this on t'web while doing some research.

Talk about wing flex

BTB500 will have some knowledge of this I would think.

Not for me though. Thermals make me itch.

Very nice. I've never really been into pure gliders but I've had a few power-assisted ones. Did this short video of my 15 year old 'warmliner' a couple of weeks ago

Gordon Tarling has some much more impressive ones in his fleet! :)

What motor has that got Bill? I used to fly V tail slope soarers years ago but never liked them for aerobatics. Probably the mixers and servos are so much better now.

This is what first got my dander back up. Wonder what the wing spar is made of? Carbon I'll bet.

And the last transmitter I had in my hands was a Skyleader  1978 vintage.

That has a 3536 1400kv outrunner on 3S now (the 4th power train it's had over the years!). I hadn't flown it for ages and it was way down on power - the packs were on their last legs. Ordered new ones as soon as I got home! It flies pretty well and will do all normal aerobatics. I do have a V tail power model that is a bit squirrelly though!

When I started work in 1978 I blew my first month's salary on a Skyleader Trophy series ... TSX 7 FM. Before that I'd only flown 2 channel 'split sticks' so dual axis sticks took a bit of getting used to!

High performance sailplanes are almost always fully moulded composite construction nowadays, with a fair bit of carbon in the layup. That blocks radio signals though so Kevlar is often used instead in the front of the fuselage.

I have a few gliders. :) SG38 primary glider 1/3 scale which I built from scratch. SF28A motor glider 4m span, bought from my good friend's estate. I have had various slope soarers in the past and currently own two or three further powered gliders which get flown on an occasional basis. I've never been into the really big stuff though - too spendy for me! Pic of SG38 below.
