R.I.P Christopher Lee

A friend of mine moved to Los Angeles in 1979, and developed a passion for golf. A few years later, he was playing a round with a friend, and there were two guys ahead who were a bit slower. Impatiently after a while, my friend teed off and the ball went further than he had hoped for, running between the two guys, who were still on the fairway, where they waited for him to catch up.

One of them was Christopher Lee, who gave him the bollocking of a lifetime that he remembers to this day, whilst Bruce Forsyth stood by, tutting furiously!

RIP, Mr. Lee.

Shamelessly stolen.

He was Dracula.
He was a Bond villain.
He was Sherlock AND Mycroft Holmes.
He was Death.
He was Lucifer.
HE was Count Dooku
He was Saruman.
He was Lord Summerisle.
He recorded a heavy metal concept album about Chalemagne.
He hunted Nazis during WW2
He was part of a secret agent unit called 'The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare'.
He was fluent in English, Italian, German, French, Spanish, "moderately proficient" in Swedish, Russian and Greek, and "conversational" in Mandarin Chinese.

Now let's see Chuck Norris top that.

Met him many years ago at a SPARKS do at Dad's golf club - I'd been sent to find Leo Genn (an American actor, I believe), looked in the changing room and gents, tall guy in there - should have known it was Christopher Lee as we'd been to quite a few Hammer Films premiers (Dad worked for their advertising agency). Heck of a nice gentleman as well as a damned good actor. RIP.

Some unfortunate mortuary assistant is in for one hell of a shock tonight

If his funeral doesn't have ominous organ music and the coffin lid creaking slowly open, then his family have no sense of occasion.

The last of the horror greats ,alongside Cushing and Price, gone.Really annoying that he got honoured so late in his life -his knighthood and bafta lifetime were lonnnng overdue :(
Sad to see Ron Fagin Moody gone aswell.

Well if the pair turned out to be Christopher Lee and Vincent Price... I'd run a mile! :D

My friend in question used to run the King's Head in Santa Monica, and was pally with an ex pat golf pro at the Bel Air Country Club. We played there once, and had to drive past Vincent Price's pile in Bel Air to get to it! Tom Jones had a house by the second tee (c/w a red phone box in his garden) and Charles Bronson had a house by the course, amongst others (it was a while back, now).

I remember Kenny Rogers giving us a friendly "Hi Guys" as he walked towards the Clubhouse (where we weren't allowed!).

Whilst I'm at it, RIP Messrs Price, Bronson and randomly, an all time favourite, David Niven!

And randomly, an all time favourite of mine, James Stewart.

The Wicker Man, one of his best films.

RIP Mr Lee.

Would be interesting to see him driving a Benz, or what was his favorite brand of cars.

And the police Sargent was played by Edward Woodward, of 'Callan' fame...
