Hi everyone,

I have a 1987 500SL which has the standard 15" alloys fitted. The original sizes are 7JX15 ET25 with 205/65R15 tyres.

I have a set of Lorinser LO alloys which I've wanted to fit for years. The rears are 9JX16 ET10 and fit perfectly. Problem is the front alloys which are 7JX16 ET23 just don't clear the calipers.

I really want to get them fitted on the car as I love the look and they were a period wheel in the 80's.. I will be getting new Michelin tyres and the alloys refurbished once the fronts fit properly... hopefully.

Any help much appreciated! :(

Given the offset is near enough identical, one presumes it is down to the shape of the inside face of the wheel. Realistically the only cure is going to be spacers to push it further out, shaving the caliper is not a course of action I'd recommend.

Maybe they are for a pre-facelift car with the single pot calipers?

I also think it's the inside of the wheel which is the problem. I will look into trial fitting with spacers and see if they will then clear the caliper.

Yes, I know they are definitely a straight fit onto the pre facelift cars!
