First job I come to do on my, new to me, R107 and I fail!
I have a 1986 300SL (R107), I can't understand how I can undo the lower bolt on the dissy cap.
The top two have good access, no problem. The lower fixing can't be reached with a normal size Allen key socket, but an extension means your ratchet clashes with the fan & fan cowl.
So can someone tell me the knack?
Cheers, Giles

Think you need to remove the radiator top plastic cowell

Dizzy Cap removal

Been a while since I did mine but hopefully this info will be useful.
I released the plastic cowl so that you can get between it and the rad. Also the fan had two of the blades spaced wider apart so you have a bit more room. I used a 3/8 socket wrench with a hex bit.
Very fiddly but it worked.
Not sure what you are removing it for but would advise changing the rotor arm so you don't have to do this again
Good Luck

I would recommend you change the orange plastic cap behind the rotor arm and its rubber seal whilst you are there. These are known to crack and cause running issues.
Only available from MB.
