My accelerator pedal on my 1984 280sl is very stiff, given all the linkages in the engine bay a good dose of WD 40 but can't seem to free it off, any ideas guys.
On the rear bulkhead a rod comes up from the through-lever then works a crank which is pivoted on a nylon ball also mounted on the bulkhead. Check that it OK. Then start by disconnecting things at the balljoints one at a time and see where the stiffness lies. The rod going from the bulkhead ball has a strange junction point where a flat U is clipped into two nylon housings. Is that OK?
Disconnect the pull cable going down to the gearbox...does that improve things?
