R129 Boot brake light lens replacement

Hi, I am replacing the faded boot brake light lens, not the entire light fitting. Can I just pry the old red lens off and clip on the new one on, or do I have to undo boot lining and push the fitting out then unclip the red lens. If the former , it will be a lot quicker. I have seen links imply the red lens part can just be unclipped from the outside
Any advice before I start?

Sorted and even sealed to stop water seeping in it does clip out
