My r129 500 has just been diagnoesed with a broken rear spring-off side.
The replacement part will not be available until Tuesday and I am planning a trip to Bouremouth this weekend, circa 500 mile round trip.
My local indie who will be doing the repair tells me there is no problem making the trip as the spring end is captive and it won't cause a problem or damage.
Any one got any contrary thoughts, I really would like use her over the weekend given the excellent weather, but ....

I wouldn't feel comfortable driving any distance with a broken spring...after all, it is an integral part of the supension and also controls the ride height.

If it's near the end of the spring it's probably been broken for months..or longer.

apparently its in the encapsulated bit(the mechanics word not mine) so its ok to drive.your comment seems to back this up.
