R129 C/L not working

Bossers wife has the identical car - 93K reg R129 300SL

All of a sudden the C/L has stopped functioning, lights in the locks flash red/green as usual but the pump doesnt run. Local stealer says Vac pump but want £400 for it, Merman dont have any. I'm not 100% sure its even the pump but would have been happier trying a cheaper version from Ricky if he had one.

Before I start tearing into this with all arms flailing, does anyone else have an idea where I might start looking other than what could be a very expensive pump?

I just dont want to be swapping parts of my SL unless I really have to!

Check the fuses in the small fusebox in the boot.

So its out with a wiring diagram, test lamp and multimeter tonight!

Make sure the remote battery is ok as well. But vac pump is quite common for failure.

Just remembered, I have seen 2 with dry joints on the vac pump circuit board. Just re-soldering sorted it.
