R129 distributor caps

Probably WD40 (WD stands for water displacement)

I use wd40 for lots of things but not sure it was good to spray on that.
Any ideas about taking the rotor bolt out, cant loosen it for ****, I'm guessing that's where moisture would be???

Just got some electrical contact cleaner from halfords so will use that instead of wd40

Put everything back together.
Wouldn't start on 3 attempts just kept dying off after few seconds.
It's still misfiring, think worse than before.

Right, I'm going to change the caps and the rotor arms.

After much research I'm thinking to buy Beru parts.
I have found Beru arms from euro car parts and gsf but ECP is much cheaper. Is the part the same (see pic attached)

There isn't really any way to confirm from either of their websites as both of them use their own in house part numbers that can't be cross referenced as well as listing everything at a high price and running constant "sales" and "promotions"

Dunno if i picked the right flavour r129 but Ignition Distributor/ Parts MERCEDES-BENZ SL (R129) 500 SL (129.066) ( 240 KW / 326 PS from 1989 ) - Spark/ Glow Ignition is one of many European based motor factors that recognise and use both MB part numbers as well as the part manufacturers # and while they often an extra small 'discount' their regular day to day prices are usually lower than the "sale" price from eurocrap (note they often list the RRP as lower than eurocraps "regular" price...)

Given the price of genuine ignition bits and reports about lower quality stuff i'd be thinking about binning the standard set up in favour of something like a megajolt mappable ignition set up personally. Or even complete aftermarket engine management to replace the krapjetronic side too. OK not really acceptable for concours nutters but for everyone else that's not bothered about 100% origionality it's gotta be cheaper in the longrun as well as just better?

I had this trouble last week .I was told about the disc at the rear of the distributor. But pulled all the plugs off one at a time to find no 6 doing nothing . So just waiting for new set of Bosch leads to come to put her back to normal health ..[ We hope ]

Right just got round to changing rotor arms. Won't turn over now, just gets tick noise and all lights in dash won't turn off like normal

Is the battery low?
