Just inspecting the front brake pads and discs over the weekend.

Will change out the pads as they are getting close to the wear sensor.
The disc's are starting to develope a lip. Is there any guidance on what wear is exceptabe ? I can borow a vernier from work to check the measurements.

Thanks

Each disc variant will have its own minimum thickness value. It's usually stamped/written on the part but on old discs it's generally obliterated by rust.

For the 300mm discs, it's 25mm. For 320mm, the figure is 28mm

Thanks for that info. Im running standard 300mm discs up front.
A quick ball park measurment tells me Im at about 25.5mm. So with the car already being on stands, Im off work for week it would be sensible to replace them now ;)

Further to my post, Im planning to start this task over the weekend.

Does anyone know the torque settings for the 2 bolts that hold the caliper on ? Or can point me to an online resource where I can see all the torque settings ?

Why Haynes have not written a manual for the R129 is beyond me !

Thanks

Also Ive read MB recommend fitting new bolts, can anyone comment on that ?
Ive had a few calipers on/off before on other vehicles and not come across that in the owners manual.

My local main dealer is re opening their spares department next week :)

Thanks

File off the lip all round, for balance, and then measure. Very often at MOT time the will fail/advisory just because there is a lip without measuring.
Caliper bolts, have always use the same bolts, never had problem
Haynes manuals, they don't do one for the CLK, I got the saloon version it covers most things

Take a pic of the disc and let me have a look. I don't have to measure them much anymore. I can usually tell by looking.

Hi guys
New On here I’ve recently bought a w202 c43 rep I need some advise please on offset. She as 18inch monoblocks reps the rear offset sits lovely but the front slightly stick out of front arches what would be the best offset in the 18inch monoblock

You might get a better response if you started your own thread, rather than piggybacking another that has nothing whatsoever to do with your question?

The R129 is heavily based on the W124 Coupe ; the Haynes manual for that model covers a lot of the mechanical side .

If you buy genuine ATE discs ( which I always do , wouldn't fit anything else ) they come with new bolts . Even buying from MB , the bolts are cheap anyway , so no real reason not to .

Well I did the right thing, new discs and pads (brembo) new pins, spring clips, pad wear sensor wires and new caliper retaining bolts for the MB dealer.

So... some guy on youtube in the states said torque the caliper retaining bolts to 85 ft/lbs. Thats the only guide I could find.

Anyone else know different ?

Thanks
