R129 roof diagnostic and repair

Hi all

Ok so the roof on the SL will not work. The red roof switch just flashes and beeps. you can hear the whirring noises when you push it to close and it will pull down to tighten for the final part of the cycle.
The roll bar works fine but when it is down the button flashes and either up or down, the light stays lit on the instrument cluster.

I have no idea how to check it. I have found a roof motor recondtioned with 1 yr warranty on it for £299 but I don't know if it is that.

Anyone know of a roof specialist, preferably midlands.

You should have the car scanned on a MB SDS and codes read. That should give you an indication of the problem.

You can report back with the codes and get more help.

Plenty of specialists in the midlands with the MB diagnostic tools like Mercland in Nuneaton, MSL in Birmingham, Andy Gayle, WDM.
