R129 1994 300SL 24v Specifications

Quick couple of questions for you:

1994 300SL 24v....did the SL at this stage come with the rear seats, or was it an option. 2nd, was air-con an option...I presume it was and lastly, was the 5 speed autobox an option as per W124's and the 4 speed standard?

Oh....just thought of another....were electric seats an option?

Many thanks

Vlad.

well, I don't know definitively so didn't reply yesterday, but seeing as you are still hanging......

rear seats - option
aircon - not sure if there was standard manual aircon and optional climate control, but almost certainly standard aircon of some type
gearbox - I believe on a '94 car it would have been 4-speed only. The 5 speed came in on 129s a little bit later on.
elec seats - not sure. All the SLs I've had had elec seats but they were all '96 or '97 cars. If I was betting I would say standard, but can't gtee it.

Someone like Stats007 will have all the answers for you I'm sure!!

Everything that you have stated, were all options....none were standard.

That doesn't sound right ... an extra charge for it on the larger engine only?

In fact I didn't think the 5 speed box was standard on any R129 until the 96 facelift?

Sorry I have the price list here in front of me and I read that bit twice, the 5 speed was standard on the 280 and extra on the 320 it was not an option for the 500 or 600 and not fitted

And the car new cost £59,160 inc VAT

The 5 speed was an option on the 24v 124s

I've seen a 1992 300-24 SL with a 5-speed auto so suspect it was a 91/92-on option like on the W124

Vlad,
My 1991 car car had all of the above options including the 5 speed auto. They were all paid for extras.

Nice ME article on the Hammer by the way.......

Thanks....Ian Kuah, took some lovely pics.

Just to stir things a little, reading the price list in the little room ( the only place that I can read) on pagew 21 of this 10-94 price list it says

SL320( in addition to the 280 specifications) Automatic 5 speed gearbox Cruise control headlamp wash-wipe

I read it for the 3rd time where it says SL280 5 speed standard SL320 £747

I page contradicts the other.

Any want a special price list for the S Class and SL class

maybe BTB you are correct, its a kind of thrown it all open again

Are we talking auto or manual? The '94MY SL320 also came with different options to the 300SL-24.

I have never seen the SL offered with a manual gear box on any price list and I have a few.

One could order a special from the factory is my understanding

The six cylinder early cars were all available as manuals.
