I have just purchased a really nice SLK which has one single issue - that of the BAS ESP warning light illuminating quite randomly. Sometimes the car will start without error but other times the error shows immediately upon starting and before moving off or touching any controls. Other times it starts without error but then shows the warning light part way through a journey. To be honest it did this when I test drove the car and I mentioned to the seller that this needed sorting. Apparently a diagnostics guy with Star sorted it but not permanently it seems. I believe the brake light switch was changed prior to all of this in an attempt to cure. I've read that it could be a wheel sensor or steering angle sensor / lateral movement sensor. Obviously I'll need to have my own Star test done but in the meantime does anyone have an idea of worst case scenario and associated cost.
Apart from this the car is fantastic and has been extremely well looked after.
Many thanks in advance
