My 1999 SLK 230 has failed MOT on the SRS light being on. Sensor under passenger seat is connected and before i start investigating further, would value any other top tips on how to diagnose where in the system the issue maybe. The horn has also stopped working and its started running a bit rough first thing in the morning and wonder if these 3 issues are related. thanks in advance

The simplest solution is to find an independent specialist to put in on Star. The codes should tell you where the problem is. Possibly seat sensor. Some have another sensor in the belt buckles. I think sometimes an airbag fault can also trigger the warning. Our 171 had this issue due to a faulty passenger seat occupancy sensor. On the 171 this needs a new seat base although you can fit an emulator to fool the system. The new seat base for ours took weeks to arrive so the Indie coded it out to get rid of the warning until the seat base turned up 6 weeks later.

Hi
If the horn has stopped working as well as the SRS light being on it could possibly be the clock spring immediately behind the steering wheel.
