Hi guys i have autoglym metal polish which is great for the most part of cleaning the tail pipe trims but on one pipe on the inner edge i have black deposits that are hard to remove with metal polish and cloth.
Does anybody have a better way to get that off without scratching?
Thanks,Andy.

yes baked on grime-i get that one.
Thanks.

Wenol

I know the problem as I have an R171 SLK. I use Wenol metal polish it comes in 2 grades Red and Blue (blue I think is the less abrasive). This stuff seems to lift and disolve that baked in dirt. Gives a great finish on the Chrome exhausts and also gives some protection also. Also use it occasionally on the nice MB star on my old E Class. :thumb:

Wenol Metal Polish

My tube is now 8 years old and have only used a little.

Hi
I just cleaned my chrome trims with autosol metal polish which cleaned off the black deposits and left them nice and shiny.

cheers

Graham

+1 for Autosol. I use it all the time, and have used it for years on the Porsche too. Only a fiver at Halfords....

yep i have autosol but unless i try the 00 guage wool tip it doesnt shift the stubborn rim bits:D

rim-oops:eek:

Take a picture and it should give an idea whether they are too far gone or just being stubborn :)

It can take a lot of elbow grease and time to clean up some exhausts.
