R230 2010 Comand query (NOT BOSE)

I think I have the basic NTG 2.5 Comand. Online I see a whole stack of info on the Bose system - but not much on the basic non-Bose. I am trying to find out what components this system has. I think the head unit is also the amplifier and therefore there isn't a separate amplifier hidden anywhere. Is this correct? Also, I believe there is no sub-woofer in the footwell. I want to install an amplifier and an additional set of speakers and need to know the best place to take the signal from. I am assuming I need to get to the back of the Comand unit and tap into the speaker wires but would welcome any other suggestions. Thanks.
