Being a foolish boy, I ordered two replacement Stabilus boot lifts, using the A2307500036 part number that all sources believe is the spec for R230 (2002-2012)
I didn't check the vehicle because both MB and third party suppliers all seem clear that it's the correct part number.
(You know where this is going). On arrival the A2307500036 are two inches shorter than the struts on the car.
So I struggled to check the number on the fitted struts (taking a photo in the dark) and discovered that the part fitted is A2309800164
I'm guessing that they've used a different size on the facelift (post 2006) car.
Can anyone comment ?
Obviously I should just find struts that are the same as on the car, but I'd like to know "why the difference?"
