R230 fog light's flashing when brake light's are on??

Hi Guy's i'm struggling with an intermittent problem, symptom's are very occasionally when the brake light's are on both rear fog light's flash very bright in like a strobe effect (but not in a regular sequence) more like a bad earth!! under normal condition's when the rear fog light is switched on only the o/s illuminates as it should, also the tail light LED'S have a very slight flicker to them "when it is in playing up mode" it's a very intermittent fault, so far i have cleaned the earth's in the boot floor, had the rear SAM out and checked for green death on the circuit board and hard wired both n/s & o/s floor Can multiplug's (brown wire one's just guessing there as had a previous problem years ago!!) had it on Star but was unable to communicate with some of the onboard diagnostic's and it was suggested the hard wire may cure communication issues!!..... Just wondered if anyone has experienced the same problem????? Many Thanks Simon..

This looks like a rear SAM issue. It is responsable for the rear light operation. I had this exact same fault on a 230 last year. A new rear SAM sorted it.

Thank's Blackc55, at last someone who has experienced the same fault!!! iv'e been searching the internet for day's trying to find some info, the fault is so intermittent some times i wedge the brake pedal and sit for half an hour and it doesn't play up, many thanks for the reply Simon..

This same problem happens to my SL 350 when the brake is pressed, the rear lights occasionally flash.
Please if someone else has happened, what was the solution to the problema.

If not as BlackC55 suggests above, check the correct type of brake lamps (bulbs) have been fitted.
