sl500 r230
Hi,
My roof has developed a problem and will not open fully.
The roof comes back twisted and stops halfway to avoid damaging itself, it then refuses to go back down.
Have got it back to the closed position manually.
Can anyone recommend anyone with experience of working on these roofs.
Its a 2004 SL500 so i can't be taking it to a Mercedes dealer to repair as the cost would not make sense.
I'm located in Northumberland but willing to travel.
Thanks

Assuming your roof has been working fine until recently, I would check the hydraulic oil level in the reservoir in the left side of the boot.
Open the boot lid normally and check the two flaps at each side of the boot lid, they should be tucked up tight against the boot lid.
Other than that I would do some YouTube searches which are very informative.

Good luck!

Thanks for your help.
Hydraulic fluid level is fine, both tabs are operating fine also.
Has anyone used or heard of Cayman Autos of Redhill?
They only do repairs of convertable roofs and get really good reviews, bit of a trek but i will do it if i have too
